Optical character recognition

We show you how to read coded information from images. For example, a text encoded in DataMatrix form can be captured or the plain text is captured directly using optical character recognition (OCR).

Datamatrix Form

In manufacturing, serial numbers of components are often coded in data matrix form. When an assembly reaches a production area, a camera takes a picture of the code and the code is read. With the serial number in it, machines in the production area receive information from a production control server on how to handle the corresponding assembly. At the same time, the numbers are used for traceability in the context of troubleshooting or fault localisation.
